Why Work Here

Why Do Plumbers Stay at Herrell for Decades?

Because the work is steady and everyone is treated like family. That is the short answer, and the roster backs it up. Mike S. has been managing the plumbers here for 47 years. Karen H. has spent 36 years ordering materials, tracking down special parts, and managing the warehouse. Sheila B. has been managing the office and the finances for 36 years, and Tom S. has been cleaning drains and replacing cast iron and sewer lines for just as long. Bobby P. has been a senior technician for 33 years, and Red L. has been running the repipes for 32. Fifteen years on staff is normal here, not remarkable.

Tenure like that does not happen by accident in the trades. It happens when the schedule is predictable, the trucks are stocked before you leave the yard, and the office backs you up when a job turns out bigger than the ticket said. Our shop has been at 5613 East Colonial Drive since long before most of the newer companies in town existed, and Herrell Plumbing has been running under the same name since 1970.

The Work

What Kind of Plumbing Work Will You Be Doing?

A mix of residential and commercial across Orange and Seminole Counties, which means the day rarely looks the same twice. One call is a slab leak in a 1950s College Park home. The next is a tankless swap in Windermere. In between there is drain cleaning, cast iron sewer replacements, gas line installations, or whole-house repiping in Central Florida properties where the original copper has finally given up.

Trucks go out stocked with thousands of parts. That is deliberate. Most repairs get finished on the first visit, which means fewer callbacks. If service work is your strength, or gas piping, or drain cleaning, or you simply want a broader range than your last shop gave you, say so on the form below.

What We Look For

What Do We Look For in a New Hire?

A valid Florida driver's license is the first hard requirement, because every technician needs to be able to drive a company vehicle. Beyond that, every hire has a full criminal background check before their first ride-along. That is not new policy. We have screened this way for years, and customers who have used us since the 1970s expect it.

Experience helps but a specific number of years does not gate the conversation. We have brought on techs who came in strong on drain work and learned gas piping here, and others who arrived from new construction and had to learn the pace of service work. What does not get taught is showing up when you said you would, and treating the homeowner with respect and explaining a repair without talking down to them. If you already do those two things, you are almost there.

Uniforms are provided and expected. You are walking into somebody's kitchen as a Herrell Plumbing technician, the best plumbing company in Orlando. You will represent a name people have trusted for decades, and we take that seriously.
