Accessibility Statement

Herrell Plumbing wants every visitor to be able to find a plumber and book service without barriers. Here is what we do to keep this site accessible and how to tell us when something falls short. Last updated August 10, 2026.

We believe the same standard we bring to a plumbing job should apply to our website: do it right so it works for the person on the other end. That includes people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, or other assistive technology.

What standard do we aim for?

We work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard most widely referenced for websites in the United States. These guidelines are built around content that is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. We treat them as an ongoing target rather than a one time checkbox, and we review the site as we add and change content.

What have we built into the site?

Several things are in place across the site to support access. Pages use semantic HTML with a single main heading and a logical heading order, so assistive technology can outline the page. A skip to main content link is the first item on every page for keyboard users. Images carry descriptive alternative text, and decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers so they do not add noise. Interactive elements can be reached and operated with a keyboard, buttons and links carry clear labels, and form fields have visible labels tied to their inputs.

We also check that text and background colors meet the WCAG AA contrast ratio, that tap targets on phones are large enough to use comfortably, and that the layout reflows for small screens and larger text without losing content. Where the design uses motion, it is kept gentle and pauses for anyone whose system asks for reduced motion.

Are there known limitations?

We are honest about the fact that no site is ever perfectly accessible. Some third party tools we rely on, such as embedded maps or spam protection, are not fully within our control, and older content may not yet meet every guideline. When we find a gap, we fix it. If you run into something that does not work for you, we want to hear about it so we can address it, not wait until the next review.
